SRG Tupelo Gives Back at Race for the Cure

On October 22, 2016, our SRG Tupelo office donned their pink and got out for the day in support of Race for the Cure. It has become an annual tradition with their office and, as always, a very worthy cause. The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure event is one of the largest of its kind for fundraising and awareness of breast cancer research and our team was proud to be part of the day.

The North Mississippi Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is proud to be part of the world’s largest and most progressive grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists – the only grassroots organization fighting to cure breast cancer at every stage, from the causes to the cures and the pain and anxiety of every moment in between.

Founded in 1998 by a group of volunteers, the North Mississippi Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is committed to:
Raising awareness of breast health issues.
Educating our community on breast cancer statistics and Susan G. Komen’s breast health recommendations.
Raising funds to fund local education, screening and treatment grants, as well as research grants at the national level.

Komen North Mississippi Race for the Cure® has grown from 1,170 participants to nearly 4,000. Thousands of women and men in north Mississippi who could not afford breast health care have received screenings and education as a result of funds raised through the Komen North Mississippi Race for the Cure®.

Up to 75 percent of the net proceeds generated by the affiliate stays in north Mississippi and will be used to support breast health and breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs for medically under-served women in this region. The remaining income goes to the national Susan G. Komen for the Cure Grants Program to fund research. Komen North Mississippi Race for the Cure serves a 16-county area, including Alcorn, Calhoun, Chickasaw, Clay, Itawamba, Lafayette, Lee, Lowndes, Monroe, Panola, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Oktibbeha, Tishomingo, Tippah and Union counties.
